Bouncing Back - our latest Early Years project & resources For teaching staff -
At the end of the last academic year, our latest Early Years music and dance project came to an exciting end. After having initially developed our project in collaboration with children’ feedback and teaching staff, we explored the theme of ‘Bouncing Back’, a subject that was of concern after children had experienced prolonged restrictions during the pandemic, including extended periods of time at home.
We invited children to express themselves did through rhythm, song and dance, and created 8 new performance pieces that were performed to parents and carers, and other year groups.
Over 480 young learners in our selected schools took part in a series of music, dance and singing workshops with our creative team.
Our accompanying learning resource is now available to teachers within our project schools. The accompanying booklet can be found here - EYFS and KS1 Booklet. Our video series outlines the warm-up activities, rhythm games, simple rhythms for older learners, and dance sequences to our storytelling and dances from around the world workshops.
Thanks to all teaching staff and children for taking part in Bouncing Back. Our project was designed to ease the transition of young learners entering back into school life after the pandemic and national lockdowns.
Thanks to Nottingham Music Hub for their support in delivering our programmes of workshops and our music educator . Our project was very kindly supported by Arts Council England.
