Nottingham Playhouse welcomes Nottingham Global Roots Festival - Temperature Rising!
On the 8th October 2022, we welcomed a fully booked audience into the main auditorium at Nottingham Playhouse. Our headline act for the event was UK reggae legend, Lloyd Brown, and support acts were Nottingham’s very own fusion performance group, Kaira Kafo, and Senegalese Baye Fall singer-songwriter, Batch Gueye. Our festival events are always free to attend and are family friendly. Nottingham Global Roots Festival project is delivered alongside Cultural Vibrations in Nottingham.
Genres of music for this particular concert spanned West Africa and the Caribbean. In last year’s grande finale concert event at Nottingham Playhouse, as our headline act, we hosted The Dhol Foundation, representing India and The Punjab. It’s a real treat to be able to celebrate a more popular group/artist from different regions of the world as our headliner act each year, as well as include emerging artists from Nottingham and surrounding areas. Our audiences are always appreciative of the opportunities to experience music from around the world.
This year, Festival attendees joined us not just from Nottingham, but also from other cities as far as London and Bristol. The event was a huge success and we can’t thank our supporters and artists enough for bringing their vibrant energy and positivity into the performance space!
A huge thank you to Arts Council England for supporting our festival
