Our beginning

LW Arts CIC is a collective of creative practitioners, who are all passionate about connecting individuals and communities through creative arts and wellbeing-related activities.

We provide opportunities for individuals and communities to express themselves through the arts.

Our artist base and network of partners is constantly growing to include more artists, who share the same warm and inclusive vision.

Community wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do, and we strive to support children, adults and families with establishing and maintaining positive mental and emotional health, as well as building emotional resilience.

We warmly welcome feedback and support from our communities to guide our creative work. This ensures we remain focussed on being community-led, whilst also delivering high quality arts programmes.

Our committee

We are a core committee of three practitioners, with each member bringing a wide range of expertise and knowledge to the operation and development of LW Arts CIC.

We consider our associated creative practitioners as members of LW Arts CIC, and we invite their feedback on all areas of planning, consultation, delivery and evaluation. Over the years, it has been a pleasure to work alongside:

Music, dance, theatre & art

Our workshops and events are all underpinned by the inherent health benefits of taking part in participatory arts. We want our surrounding communities to thrive and to feel a valued part of all of our activity. With an ever-growing epidemic of loneliness and a proven severe decline in mental health, we create and design our programmes to be relevant to the people we work with, so we can have a clear impact on people’s physical, mental and emotional health.

We thank all organisations that have supported our work. These include Arts Council England, The National Lottery Community Fund, Nottinghamshire Community Foundation, and many other important organisations.

Find out more about our Project Development Manager, Jude Winwood…

Jude is one of the founding members of LW Arts CIC, and has spent most of her previous teaching career working in countries where community-inspired music making is well and truly at the joyful heart of culture, creativity and society. From having lived and worked on Reunion Island and on Mauritius in the Indian Ocean, to Ethiopia and The Gambia, and then over on Martinique and Dominica in The Caribbean, Jude has always been in awe of the many ways that people all over the world use the positive power of music to bring people together and enhance community wellbeing. Music connects people and has the power to remove any barriers to communicating effectively.

Jude is passionate about creating meaningful musical encounters through her work, and she instils this wonder into all collaborating creative practitioners who join LW Arts CIC’s community projects.

An unforgettable highlight of Jude’s career was being selected by Kensington Palace to coordinate a special group drumming workshop for The Duchess of Cambridge in London. Jude was asked to facilitate a project for children experiencing poor mental health. It was an honour for Jude to lead this project and to welcome the Duchess into the children’s creative space.
