LW Arts CIC Awarded Funding from The National Lottery Community Fund - Diverse, Sustainable, Resilient, Creative & Healthy Families
We are thrilled to announce that LW Arts CIC has been awarded generous support from The National Lottery Community Fund! This funding will enable us to bring to life an exciting community wellbeing project: Diverse, Sustainable, Resilient, Creative & Healthy Families. This project is all about celebrating creativity, community, and cultural diversity in Nottingham, while promoting wellbeing for all generations.
Through this support, we’ll be able to deliver a series of creative workshops at Clarendon Chambers and in locations across the city. Throughout our seven years of operating, we have developed excellent partnerships with many artists and organisations in Nottingham and across the region. We look forward to programming more workshops from some of our communities’ favourite artists, such as Bhangra Dancer, Sohan Kailey, and Zimbabwean Storyteller and workshop leader, Millicent Chapanda. ]
We’re so proud to work with a wide range of talented workshop providers who will be delivering sessions in Latin dance, belly dance, percussion, drama, visual arts, and more! The diversity of the art forms will reflect the richness of our communities, and we hope these creative activities will build confidence, bring people together, and nurture the health and resilience of families.
We’re especially excited to continue performing our beloved flagship musical theatre piece Tootie Fruitie - A Smoothie Symphony!, a joyous and energetic production that brings puppets, vibrant scenery, and fun to families and communities. This project will allow us to reach more people, share more smiles, and create meaningful moments of connection and joy.
One of the key focuses of this project is reaching out to those who might otherwise miss out on these opportunities, due to a heightened cost of living, for example. We will be working closely with SEND schools and communities who are often marginalised, ensuring that these workshops are offered completely free of charge. Everyone deserves the chance to be creative, to express themselves, and to enjoy the arts, and thanks to The National Lottery Community Fund, we can make this a reality for so many.
We believe that creative expression is a powerful tool for promoting social cohesion and cultural understanding. By offering these workshops, we aim to nurture stronger, healthier communities where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
A heartfelt thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund for believing in this vision and for making this project possible. We cannot wait to get started, and we’re so grateful to be able to continue spreading joy, creativity, and connection in such meaningful ways.
Stay tuned for updates on workshop dates and locations, and get ready to experience a creative journey that will leave you feeling inspired, uplifted, and part of a stronger, more connected community.
With gratitude,
The LW Arts CIC Team
