The Wesleyan Foundation - Dementia Support in Nottingham

In 2018, we were awarded a prestigious grant by The Wesleyan Foundation and Nottingham Community Foundation to plan and deliver a series of interactive workshops for adults living with varying stages of dementia in care settings around Nottingham. We visited groups of adults living in care homes located in the the city and we hosted a large awareness raising event at the African and Caribbean National Artistic Centre (ACNA) in St, Anns, Nottingham. We had a great turnout for the event (120 people) and Dementia UK were also present at the event to talk about their important work.

Local cognitive reframing- and reminiscence therapist, Lesley Rawson, delivered memory stimulating sessions in several of the care homes we visited. Some of these images can be seen just below. We used recorded music and photos of musicians to quicken memories and group conversations. These were lovely workshops to facilitate and feedback was all positive. This project progressed into our intergenerational workshops
